My solo exhibit at The Flying Monkey will have its Opening Reception on Saturday, December 11 from 4 to 6pm, just after the Artist’s Market.  It will feature demented hand pulled prints of zombies, merry mutants, fighting christs and more.   I specialize in relief block, silk screen, and digital prints of narratives or monsters of the id with humor and social criticism seen through a lens of trash culture.  There will be tshirts of the head creatures and some other designs up for grabs, on top of all the fun art exhibit stuff.

Thanks to Rachel setting up a studio at the Flying Monkey, I got to print a block that I’d finished over the summer.  It was great to work with a press again, and there were lots of enthusiastic passersby.  I look forward to them opening the print studio officially next year.  I’ve got a solo exhibit there in early December, there will be details about it next week.

I also just finished my Halloween costume.  I watched Dennis McNett teaching this process with larger wooden frames at last year’s Frogman’s conference and finally got to try making one of my own.

My friend Rachel did me a huge favor and let me use her press, which let me print a block I’d had sitting on my desk for far too long.

Also, the printing class at Makers Local went swimmingly – some of the other Makers were able to pull their own shirts!

This Saturday, May 8 at 3PM Makers Local I’ll teach the basics of silk screen printing. In just a few hours we’ll have screens ready to print single color images on paper, canvas or fabric. At the end of the class we’ll start hand printing our own tshirts with our Makers Local logo and other original graphics.

All you need to bring is a blank shirt and your own single color image. For example, our logo -

    Behold the final product!

Text is fine, any image file format will be okay. If you want help creating your own image, feel free to come by for this week’s Art Night, May 6 at 7 pm and we can make it happen.

I’m going to be at MidSouthCon 2010, in Memphis TN starting next Friday, March 12-14.  I’m getting a dealer’s table and everything, like a big grown-up artist.  Seriously, I’ve been planning to do conventions like this for awhile, but this is going to be the first science fiction convention I’ve ever attended, much less tried to sell my artwork.  Unfortunately someone showed me clips of Klingon Karaoke, and now I’m a little nervuous.  But at the same time, I think the Zulu Death Mask fits in with the alien-warrior race mentality, so it’s all good.

I’ve got a short list of other conventions I’m hoping to attend.  If there’s a particularly awesome con that you think I should attend, drop me a line.
